It was my first time actually attending the AMV Chef, and over all I thought it was great. Unfortunately I had to meet up with some people, but I came right back to finish up the event. Don't worry about the tech fail, stuff happens. I'm the epitome of patience when it comes to stuff like that.Castor Troy wrote:So, opinions on this year's event, anyone? It was bumpy at first (tech fail) but once the ball was rolling things went very well in my opinion. Next year will be even better.

When life hands you lemons, you make grape juice. And then you sit back and watch everyone wonder how you did it.

Heh you know the funny thing is that I actually was convinced that you'd pick Ryder. Strangely I have no more logic for this other than the fact that you two are the biggest DBZ fans I know. But something kept telling me that you would pick Ryder.
I don't mind not editing, the trainwreck was a blast to work on even though it looks so horrible. Though I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that mp3 of happy happy joy joy I had set aside for the contest now.
Great showing this year but I do agree with Yue that for another "do you know the anime" game it would be wise to pick something newer as old shows stump a lot of people and they need some more easy gimmies before people start getting eliminated. Hell each one got by with one guess before they started rapidly dropping.
Great showing this year, I'll be more than happy to return next year given the chance.

But I was ALMOST gonna pull a fast one and choose Kerry until he declined at the AMV 101 panel.

That was definitely a thought, and somewhat why I selected people before playing the video.Castor Troy wrote:The staff better make sure nobody resorts to their iphones to cheat.

how about 3 outta 5? BUT HEY i did make the pre-show with a DBZ vid! granted the preshow is entirely up to DP but still...Castor Troy wrote:Rider4Z (Victoria): Ever since AX2006, I've owed Victoria a rematch, but I haven't been able to get into the contest since then (I didn't enter in 2007, and I've entered every year since 2008, but wasn't able to get in until now). Because of the ever changing nature of contests, especially AX's, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for us to settle the score just in case neither of us made the contest in the future. Victoria was always my first choice, but I also contemplated challenging everyone else for the reasons I stated above.
appreciated. it's still embarrassing to watch. i'm up for shots next timeAs for her video, I just rewatched it and it's far better than she actually gives it credit for. It flows quite well, the scenes actually fit the mood, and was quite experimental with the multiple audio sources. I personally thought I was resorting to fan-pandering with mine, but I thought more of a con audience first over artistic merit and I thought Victoria's video had a bit more of artistic merit.

Whoah. I stand corrected. The Wired Knight wrote: You have a terrible AX record?
So I've been submitting for 13 years, 27 videos entered, 6 have made finals, one SORT OF won an award and another 2 were in pre-show. So in 13 yeras I've actually never won anything at the main AMV contest except for that wierd year of 2007 which I've yet to figure out how to classify that. The only solace I have is that since 2004 I've had a video shown at AX in one form or another every year (if you count last year's Iron Chef video).Spoiler :
You would have been up against Kevin Caldwell in 1999 and 2000.
