And to be on topic, I think there is definitely always a line that shouldn't be crossed. The line may vary from anime to anime, but it's still there. Should that line get crossed, then things just become increasingly stupid and ridiculous; whether it ruins an entire anime, an episode, or perhaps just that moment really just comes down to each individual circumstance for me, but there is certainly a limit.
