I'll put in a *no* vote for Twitter.
Most of those services compromise peoples' privacy and anonymity to some degree or another.
Personally, with the exception of this site and exactly two others, I draw the line at "Login" / "Password" + cookies required, or Javascript. If I hit any of those, I'm *out.* So I'm not on LinkedIn or Facebook or Google-anything.
Basically, outside of the three particular exceptions, I treat the Internet like CB radio in the 70's:
- Anyone can buy and use the equipment,
- While you broadcast and listen, nobody really knows or care where or who you really are,
- don't do stupid stuff like broadcast personal information or your credit card numbers over the air,
- the police might be listening too,so planning a bank job over the air is pretty moronic,
- Other than that everyone has lots of fun and you even get to choose nicknames ("handles")
