4. All content MUST be PG-13
What does this mean :?:

Ok uhm... I want to submit my new amv if it is done. So I want to submit a 720x576 version of my video. Is this a problem or do you need 720x480 or any other resolution?
720x480 is preferred, you can easily downsize it and add black borders with avisynth or in your editing program if you want to re-export it. If you would rather have me handle that it isn't hard to add borders and downsize a video.

How far is too far, well try to keep the gory slaughter to a minimum, but that doesn't mean violence is against the rules. As for nudity,if it isn't sexual and it's quick it is fine, but if there is a topless girl on-screen the whole time... well that's a bit far. Obviously no sex scenes. If you have a specific example of something you are afraid might be too far, just ask.

Illia,
I can see what you are saying about allowing more formats since this is a first year contest. I can also understand why you mention specifications for the video format. Because of the amount of entries I have received and the amount of time I have been given for showing amvs at the con, I will open it up to more formats. I will also post the specifics of what I would like for the video format. However, once it is in mpeg2 is doesn't matter all that much. As long as it is dvd compatible I can handle them easily from there. Your advice is appreciated however.

It is no problem and glad that you took it to heart rather than as an attack.

And yes it might seem silly to spell out every last detail but you will get questions and even some really really stupid ones even if you are detailed in the rules (I still get asked at least once a year why tekko's vids get sent to Wi when the con is in PA and also if I am in fact a female at all) It is simply the best thing to cover all of your bases so that you have less explaining to do when you get a barrage of similar questions.

But I know where you are coming from. So feel free to drop a line and discuss anything.

Has to be or is it really preffered?
I want to avoid the wide formats, becuase there are parts in it that are "nearly" letterboxed in it. It would be very strange if the black borders would take than more space. Is 704x528 4:3 also ok?

More formats... h264 would be nice, or at least XviD :o

Because of the PG-13 thing... That should be ok in this amv. There isn´t much violence and not really nudity.

I've never tried using video at that resolution, but let me run a quick test tonight and get back to you. I'm not sure if I would need to do anything to that or not.

As for the more formats.... h.264 is one i've never had to deal with converting from. I understand it take considerable processing power though, and would prefer not to have to deal with that. XviD is a definate no. I have had many issues when converting from XviD to mpeg2. I don't want to be responsible for ruining someone's video. Sorry.

I do find these days a lot of entires submitted in XviD however.. It not too hard to convert and looks good provided it was done right and with a ressonable bit rate...

Yeah I see about 3 our ot 5 vids submitted nowadays seems to be xvid. It can be fine or absolutely terrible depending on what the editor used for source and what bitrate was used. Although those are easy to deal with if you need to make time cuts.

ok, sorry that took longer than I expected. That resolution doesn't work so well so I'd have to add borders somewhere unless you'd prefer I resized it. It will still be 4:3. So let me know.
