IT would be nice but oh God the funding would be horrible. If we can get it organized and funded then I am all for it, but we would have to have more than just amvs to be a succesfull con. All cons, as you know, need a dealer room.

Keep in mind this is would not be a traditional con with the huge costs and all the activities, so a dealer room would not be required since all the events would be around AMVs, etc....This would be more like a massive gathering with tons of events and workshops for the purpose of having fun, meeting everyone, exchanging stories and learning stuff about AMVs from each other and the Pros.....

If I understand correctly, this is not (being designed as) a typical anime convention Vlad is thinking up. It seems more like...a glorified AMV party :) So, you wouldn't need guests, dealer rooms, general stuff.

That's why I think having it around a big convention (not ON or AT the same time/place) would be good. You wouldn't be drawing away any attendees at all. At least not in the first couple meets. It just wouldn't be feasible to say, 50 amv makers travel 200 + miles to a one day event in it's infancy. Unless there is a flood of support beforehand it would be easier on those of us with strained budgets to put it near something we were going to anyway.

And it would be it's own event entirely.

I think this would kind of be an AMV "club" type meet more than a convention. But open to anyone...is this kind of what you had in mind Vlad?

Yes, kind of. Look at it this way, stamp collectors have a huge get together in a "convention" like environment annualy. This is the concept here. This would not be a anime Convention, but I think AMV artists and even fans of AMVs would get lots our of it since there would be a lot of things going on than just watching videos and contests. We're talking AMV dances, panels, workshops, AMV gameshows, contests socials, etc.

I think if it is planned right, I figure it could get about 500 - 1000 people together.Yes lots of good planning and events that would draw people would be very important. At this point, this is only an idea and required some initail dicussions and a "show" of hand on how many creators are actually intertested.....

I'm all for it ^^ AMV gatherings are the best ^^

I think a 1 or 2 day event would be nice ^^ Like maybe Saturday and Sunday?

We'd need a projector ^^ A major thing ^^ Maybe a computer or two ^^

CD exchange is a must ^^

I'm assuming this would be in a hotel, but where? I know some people are from out of country (Canada, Europe) so it'd have to be somewhere everyone can get to (maybe..Denver?) without lightening our wallets ^^;;

You say Canada like its some kind of far off magical land that costs large amounts of money to travel to and from. Jeez, Vlad the person who suggested this whole thing is in Canada. It's not that much of a problem anyway.

Yeah I can understand that. I just didn't want it all the way in Texas, as international flights do cost ^^;;

Like I said before, all for it ^^

How did you arrive at that from my postings? Yes, it's more expensive for use to travel to the US, but I've gone to three con + will be at AWA trhis year so obviously it's not THAT ecxpensive....
