Need Help

This what it looks like when I go to export it from the MPEG Stream Clip.

Is this right? If not, could you help me fix it?

Wait, what? No.

Choose "Save as" and change the container to avi. Don't reencode at all! Leave the video and audio uncompressed.

Oh okay! I did that and now I opened it into Avidemux2 and this is how it looks:



Is this right?

This means that Avidemux can't read whatever you chose. If you chose something that had anything before uncompressed and not just "uncompressed" then it's probably Apple proprietary and Avidemux cannot read it. Hence the green screen.

It's been my experience that final cut (express, at least) can only export uncompressed using an apple proprietary thing. I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure I get the green thing in Avidemux no matter what type of uncompressed I choose..

I don't have FCP installed on my MacBook, but I do have FCE. I am teaching a full load today, but I'll see if I can't figure out a way to get something out of FCE that Avidemux can read. I know I've done it before, but because I use Premiere almost exclusively, it has been quite a while, and I will need to relearn the steps, probably.

Alright, so I figured out how to get sound:

Tools > Preferences > Audio

Then choose anything but "DUMMY" the only option that I had was Sdl.

So I now have sound but it is really choppy, is this just because of the amount of frames per second, so it will be okay when i export it? (for the sound)

And my screen is still green, so I can't see how it goes with the actual AMV.

Sound is choppy because of Avidemux's inability to read the video correctly. It won't matter once you export. I am busy today, but I have no work to do in the office tomorrow, so I'll get you a step by step process for what to put into Avidemux.
