I'm surprised Otohiko didn't suggest "ProjeKt Life". :)

See, I'm a developer, so the best I can come up with is:

Instatiation

Horrible, isn't it?

Seriously, I think you might want to look at the dictionary definition of "Animation", which mean's "the act of giving life to something previously unalive". Hence referring to rocks as "inanimate" objects. I think it comes from the ancient Greek word for "wind" or "air", which became "breath" in old French, and was then used to signify life (using the noun-form pronunciation). Then it became a verb meaning "to make alive" and gained its common verb-form pronunciation using a long second "a". I'm not sure exactly how or when that part happened, however.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i've started making the actual images for my intro concept (which will somewhat resemble a news-program intro), and can say that the intermission is going to be a hand-drawn twist on a familiar low-motion elevator scene that I think might go nicely with the music I've chosen ("Barefoot in the Park", from the NGE soundtrack). The drawings will be in the same sepia-pencil over antique paper background look that I used for my first attempt at precessing some of my old drawings into background images.

The intro audio will be "Step Forward into Terror" (not that I want to imply anything of the sort with respect to any of the videos in this project :) ), also from the NGE soundtrack. It sounds a lot like a news into, in my opinion, and is just under two minutes long, giving me just enough time to visually intoduce the project, our two-person narration "cast", and two-screen "studio".

I'm definately still doing something with "What a Wonderful World" for the end credits.

BTW: Song, I hope you don't mind as being cast as Yukino Miazawa from Kare Kano, because that's who've I've selected as my female narrator. If you really want it changed, I can probably use someone else (the anchor shots are being done using flat-painted footage, some of which I'm generating, some of which I'm clipping out of screencaps and wallpapers, because setting the video screencaps in a pencil-drawn scene looked pretty stupid when I tried it), but I thought she'd be perfect as a sharp, professional female speaker. That, and I thought you might like the red hair.

I'm going back and forth on whether I'd be better off using Gendo Ikari (partially in tribute to an old Scintilla video) as the male anchor, or Jinnai from El-Hazard, who I've seen used in other videos for the same purpose. Oddly enough, I think Gendo looks less evil , so I think I'll go with him unless some third possible new-anchor guy comes to mind.

Never heard of the charcter, so it doesn't matter to me. :)

I have a KareKano video which has her cast as an interviewer. No, forget that, it sucks?

ProjeKct Life would imply too much a connection to Kc, which is sort of misleading. Although, if I may say, perhaps the potential success of this upcoming project might lead me to seriously consider starting up something that could very reasonably be called 'ProjeKct Life'...

The ProjeKt thing was just a joke. It would be kinda cool to have an actual all King Crimson project, though.

I'm sending the scripts to Songbird right now, via e-mail.

I've gotten some of the images for the intro done, and have almost completed the intermission image. I haven't scanned anything yet, though, so you'll have to wait a little longer before you can see them.

What I do have done for the intro so far is the images for an animated trumpets and timpanis sequence and an IAMV (Instrumental AMV) logo. I'll do the screen and desks next.

I think gendo would be a great choice. Of course I may be biased since "Nerv Evening News With Dan Rather" is one of my favorite parodies of all time. I'm really glad to see things getting done, project wise. Still can't connect to the server. :(

As far as the whole name thing goes, I think we might be limiting ourselves. Conception of ____ is a good idea but I can't get anything to sound right. We don't neccicarily have to limit ourself to birth related names. I was just listening to the song while I tried to come up with a name and it struck me how the song was all about flow. Something like "Liquid Dreams" might go really nicely. Also the lenth and complexity sort of suggests "project Epic."

You guys might want to check out the "multi-editor projects" thread in general. Someone is distributing that test render. :?

One thing that could be an inside-joke of sorts is 'Liquid Dream ProjeKct' (because of LTE members originating from Dream Theater (Portnoy/Rudess/Petrucci) and King Crimson (Tony Levin) respectively).

And I will host my own ProjeKct of sorts eventually, when I have the resources and credibility to do so...

Ah, so we're even having animated narrators? That's pretty interesting; hope that comes out well. Like I said in that other thread, looks like these additional touches are making the project more than the sum of its' tracks, and that's certainly a very good thing.

EDIT:
Regarding that thread pen-pen mentioned with the distribution thing...

Perhaps you can attach a visible note next to the current draft links to indicate that they're NOT FINAL/test purposes only? I think some people from outside the project who stumble upon those links may be tempted to download them, assuming they're more representative of the final product than they're probably meant to be...

my b, didn't realize people were that eager to watch/distro it.
i busted out the blink tag, perhaps one of the few times i'll ever do that.

"liquid dreams" seems to be even more prone to pun than conception, unless that's intentional as well. but its a pretty good name. "project epic" seems a bit pretentious though.

I was just joking about the epic.

The pun issue is a valid one though, Damn! I thought I finally had it.

If I can't figgure this out soon, I'm just going to create the thread as well as I can and deal with the name issue later. After all, the term most often used to refer to our project is Instrumentality, and that didn't get suggested till page 30 or so if I remember right.

The official thread will be up sometime tomarrow either way.

actually visions of change sounds nice. Liquid visions is kinda meh, liquid dreams has a ring to it, but I dunno something bothers me about it.

i'd suggest to hurry and make its own thread though, as this is kinda derailing this one, and may start getting confusing as to what comments are to what project ;p
