Of course. But your initial idea to Nate sounds nice. I mean he could even make some extra "Outlook podcast" sometimes as "Presenting, interviewing XY country's community"
And yes I agree with you, podcasts may be less ORG-focused. But the general structure of this first podcast and the idea is nice and fresh.
Nate: is it a bad habit of yours rubbing your palms ?

Re: This Week In AMVs - New AMV Podcast
I am open to ideas. For the first syndicated show I wanted to stick with things I am comfortable with. After all, I am an American editor and mainly part of the .org and #amv community. I speak English primarily which makes it a little difficult to understand other community sites that don't have English translations, but I'm not against talking about them and what goes on with them. I'm after all not ignorant of the other communities (at least those that branch out here) though when I was working on the links section of the site I couldn't remember the locations of other sites/forums (as of right now I only have the org and amvnew.ru, forgot about akross at the time).
If anyone would like to assist me in gathering information about contests, points of view, or scrounging up editors to interview then by all means I'll accept the help. After all, I do want this show to succeed and at the same time be as broad and comprehensive as possible when it comes to AMVs. But I have to start with what I know and work to branch out in the future.
I don't plan to have each episode follow the same structure. If there is a hot topic going around perhaps I could do a show where I get a panel of people together and we discuss the topic. I can do a view from around the world type show where I interview editors from other communities. When I'm at a con I can do a live report or two about the contest while there as well as get views and opinions from editors who are present. Yeah, there's a lot that can be done here. I'm not against any of it, so keep those ideas coming.

Well, I talk with my hands so that is often a side effect, clapping my hands when I make points or switch topics and rubbing them when I get excited. I'm actually working on getting some new equipment to allow me to better record these shows. My mic isn't bad per say, it does a fairly good job of canceling out surrounding noise and of picking my voice up from a distance so I'm not constantly blowing into it, but it isn't production grade or anything. I will have to work on controlling my hands and want to spin around at my desk ^^()luggeriano wrote:Nate: is it a bad habit of yours rubbing your palms ?

Re: This Week In AMVs - New AMV Podcast
Just an idea: ask for persons (or just wait for them when they search personally and pester you with this) who are part of their national community, active in the ORG, can speak English enough good (obviuosly, if they are active here mostly comes with eligible written English level) and have a broad view on their own community. They should / can provide you valuable information which can be processable to your podcast. Even it is also an option that you send the interview questions to that person, nowadays everybody has mic and can record the answers / introduction of his / her community which can be later freely editable by you. It's just an idea but maybe worth for think on it.ngsilver wrote: I speak English primarily which makes it a little difficult to understand other community sites that don't have English translations, but I'm not against talking about them and what goes on with them. I hate to be a critic.

But here are some protips (because if TYHMG is anything it's totally pro.)
You say "um" WAAAAAY too much. I would suggest making some notes or something to make your sentences and transitions smoother.
Also, you should try to normalize your audio ... I was hearing some odd peaks.

Yeah, I noticed that myself. I normalized the final mix but the peaks are still there. It's a problem with my mic and the position of my mouth in relation to it at the time. That's why the clicks and stuff wasn't all the time. For my next cast I'll try to limit those as much as I can (and work on better sound mixing) while I wait to get the funds for a better mic.Cap'n Toddenfreude wrote:I hate to be a critic.

Re: This Week In AMVs - New AMV Podcast
I actually think that it would be best if you limited your podcast to once a week. If a event was going on (like a major con, or in this case the VCAs), then you could make additional or "special" releases outside of your weekly schedule in order to keep your listeners informed. But having a 2-3 day release schedule seems a bit much. (That's essentially 120 per year) Oh and since you released this podcast on a Tuesday, "AMV Tuesdays" would be a cool name for this. (just a suggestion)ngsilver wrote: This podcast is set to update about every 2~3 days when more content is available to talk about. The first show deals mainly with the start of the VCAs.
