Re: AMV Filenames
I don't change the filenames on my archive discs, but when I convert them to MPEG-2 and author DVDs, I use the format Artist - Song Title (Anime), unless it can't adequately be described that way, in which case it becomes Editor - Video Title (Anime). If for some reason the song title includes parenthetical text, then it looks like Artist - Song Title (addendum) - Anime.
When I do end-of-the-year collections (only done 1 so far, the one for 2008 is still unauthored) then it's simply Editor - Video Title and comes with an RTF file that has more info on it such as category and artist/song info.
I have several different catalogs I use for them all, though - the video DVDs have their own listing, the video-only archive discs have their own, and the audio CDs, audio DVDs, and audio-only archives each have their own. I haven't done the same for my general archives yet, but I probably will at some point.

Re: AMV Filenames
Gah, forgot some.
I should note that MEPs don't get the same treatment on the video DVDs. Most of the time it's just Video Title MEP (like AuN Project 2009 - TouhouMix MEP, for example, although because of the 'Project' in the title I'd probably omit the MEP part), although I don't use the MEP tag on stuff like AMV Hell or the Video Game Projects. IC stuff also generally gets the same treatment, in the form of IC Contest Name - Editor. The IC entries are also sometimes hard to tag because there isn't always an official name to the contest or the year/date isn't specified or so on.Qyot27 wrote:I don't change the filenames on my archive discs, but when I convert them to MPEG-2 and author DVDs, I use the format Artist - Song Title (Anime), unless it can't adequately be described that way, in which case it becomes Editor - Video Title (Anime). Re: AMV Filenames
Never change the file name besides in situations like the one pointed out by Castor Troy. But personally I like the
[nickname] Title (Video Codec+Audio Codec) ResolutionScantypeFramerate.extension
naming. But I was thinking about changing it... and I don't always specify resolution/scan type/framerate anyway.

Series - Year - Studio - Editor - Title.filetype
Series and Year are the most important to me. I don't even care about the song.

Re: AMV Filenames
For my own personal archive I generally leave the file names as is unless the editor names the file oddly (such as was castor said) and for my contest archive I keep the same name as Vlad pointed out.
Eventually when I get my file server up and running I plan to do some minor adjustments to each video name to "creator - title - song - anime.ext" in my own personal collection. This will also come with an entry in a database which will be fully search-able to make finding videos easier.

Re: AMV Filenames
I never change the file name of the AMVs that I download. And now, whenever I name the files of my AMVs, I use this format ("the name of the amv" AMV {Kireblue} (size of the video)).
For example: Tears are from the heart AMV {Kireblue} (864x480)

I do not change the file names... I just feel very lazy to do it!

Re: AMV Filenames
I change my AMVs into the format of [Creator] "Original name" (without creator, if it was somewhere in it).

ZephyrStar - videotitlegoeshere.mp4
