The Animatrix has both these things in spades! It's a collection of nine stories, so don't look to the third, fifth, sixth, or seventh for machines (they do have nice moments with randomly-popping up numbers though.)

Try...neon genesis evangelion...that has some good mechanical scenes if you look hard enough...and you could also try The Girl Who Lept Through Time :3

Try Texhnolyze episode 3, no numbers but you have some mechanical stuff in the explanation
of what is texhnolyze (mechanical arms, legs and that stuff) I was searching this kind of stuff so

Macross Frontier is mostly mecha shots/singing, but there are some colorful tech panel scenes spread throughout.
