I never played another 3D MMO though, well except like 20 minutes of confusion in FFXI, so I dunno, I don't have much to compare it to other than WoW. It seems like comparisons to WoW in the Aion community get shot down pretty fast by people who despise WoW, and most people complaining about how the game isn't enough like WoW get flamed... and yet, I dunno, I thought it was similar to WoW in all the good ways, i.e. easy controls, free movement, similar control scheme, similar equipment management, etc...
I will say it this way... If this game was a stand-alone single player RPG, I would play it. The fact that it is a MMO is a bonus since I prefer multiplayer gaming most of the time.
Sorry if I seemed testy.
I played WoW for almost an hour since I was curious and I hate the damn thing. Especially after playing Warhammer Online for 9 months so far. The controls suck, the UI sucks. I can't find a career trainer to save my life. I just toggle my autoattack and use my rage ability when it is available. I have no plans to play Aion, but if it is anything like the controls and equipment management, I'm glad i'm not even though my guild is branching off into it.
W forward
A left turn
S backpedal

Q left strafe
E right strafe

"WASD" setup - I think that's fairly standard... And if ya don't like it, you can remap keys.
As for the equipment management... you have slots, you put stuff on the slots, it equips.
I am not sure how much more radically different you could get without overcomplicating things.
BTW Aion works similarly to what I just described.
But out of curiosity, please explain what you mean. How are Warhammer's controls different? I have not tried it, mostly due to having heard that it was a pretty big letdown, but not as much as AoC.
