I actually have only heard the first part of your post. I was still pretty new to the ML when he left (i.e. I barely saw his posts), but he seemed like a nice guy. The few people I know that have met him also seemed to agree with that assessment (ie. Hsien). The only people I knew that hated him were well..the ones he beat. I won't name names, but I'm willing to bet most of the older members of the community know who I'm talking about.

It is possible to talk about this in private or not ? The named "Hsien" is logged on a-m-v.org (I've found nothing about him) ?

I think I met him at Otakon and didn't enjoy the experience.

He's not into AMVs anymore so don't be surprised if he doesn't respond. I know he'll hit me for saying anything, but Tim/Doki is probably a better source since he's still active and was active during the old ML days. In fact, he was the first person I contacted in that old community back in the day .

I really cannot be considered a contemporary to Kevin Caldwell. While it is true that we had a few years of overlap, he was at the top of the field and I was brand new. While I count him as an influence, and certainly most editors of my generation did, I did not know him personally, and any help he may have given me was entirely indirectly. I believe it was Otakon 2000 where I saw him. As for others, other than Hsien who has been mentioned, other people of my generation who might have really known Caldwell at least bit are maybe ErMac? Studio Hybrid? Armitage? I'm really just guessing. And while Studio Hybrid is around, I haven't heard from Armitage in years, and ErMaC only shows up when I insult him.

ErMac, Studio Hybrid, Armitage... What some wonderful names to my ears ! The good periode when I met AMVs for the first time... ^^ So, I can maybe also try with people like David Violence (where is he, too ? XD), Aluminium, Vlad G. Pohnert, Absolute Destiny or More Than Toast, right ?
