Remember, the AnimEigo KOR DVDs were produced from the D2 digital tape transfers of the original analog masters which were also the source for the previous LD set (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/19 ... -boxed-set). AE cleaned up their old masters as good as could be expected with nearly 10 year old technology, but this goes to show that if you work from a new print from the original source with modern techniques the results are noticeably better.

It's a shame that many US companies cannot get (due to licensing issues), or will not/cannot pay for (due to $$$), the newer remasters from the original prints. For every Evangelion TV, AMG OVA, and Gunbuster, we get a Sailor Moon, KOR, and Funimation and their DBZ remaster "saga". :|
