Pairing anime and song

I hear a song, my mind automatically starts sifting through anime scenes in my head as I hear it, and an idea strikes. That's how its always been

I've sometimes gotten conflicting opinions on the combos I use, some people say it doesn't fit, others say they never thought of the series in that way before, and others say that they loved it and it was perfect. so to me I think it might have something to do with how open minded a person is about a specific idea, or how much they are willing to flush pre-conceptions about a specific series/song down the toilet in order to see if they can "get" a video.

How it works for me is I usually get the ideas from listening to the song, and whatever visuals come to my mind. Or what series brought up similar feelings to the song.

If other's don't get my perspective that is fine, I really don't expect anyone to.

What it comes down to is that even a great editor can be limited by their source choices. Sometimes, no amount of tinkering or sync can make two dissimilar sources into anything cohesive. Even Michelangelo couldn't make the David out of pudding. As much as it's nice to believe that a video's quality is a direct measure of skill, it's not. The sources play a significant role.

99% of all songs can fit with any source - if you do it right. Some Sources may fit a song better than others, but in general, everything is possible.

However, I still gotta..

Yeah, most likely it strikes out of the blue when listening to a song I like and would like to edit to. However, that's just where the whole planning process starts. I might even change the series or the song if I think it's more appropriate.

However, more recently I've been wanting to edit videos based on some specific themes or an original story-line. There is a message I'd like to say or show. This way I'm looking for ways to bend my sources.

And stuff
