Hey, robbing em at gun point and the most common online illegal way are pretty similar, you are stealing in both cases. If you wouldn't shop lift a DVD then why get it via other means (you know what I mean).
Stealing and piracy aren't exactly the same. While both are illegal and both end up with you gaining posession of something you did not have before, stealing also takes said object from it's previous owner. Piracy does no such thing - the first party still has the item in question. And before you retort that you are stealing money from the first party, there is no assertion of the fact you would have purchased said item anyways in either case.

When making an AMV you use somebody else's work, unless you are both the anime and the song creator that is :)
I use material that I have bought. Appart from the quality thing (which of cource is important) that way I feel a bit more comfortable with what I do.
