yeah
yes ... unfortunatly i have to agree with these drones. pop will never die . BUT look on the bright side , those of us that are not sucked into its catchy hooks ... and boring and predictable subject matters, can still decide to not listen . There are millions of un-pop bands, genres, and fortunatly , because of the internet, millions of ways to get them.
think of Pop as kind of like that cousin you cant stand . Yeah .. every once in a while you run into him at a family event , but if you choose to ... you dont have to see him on a regular basis.
btw.. the king of pop is a child molestoring murderer, who thinks that if he gets bit by spiders enough he will turn into spiderman. What does that tell you?

I hope Pop will die someday!
I mean, it's only Pop(ular) because most people listen to it, and they do it just because it is made to be popular. Heck, those "artists" don't even write their own songs!
They just do a little sing-along for every line they get written by some unknown (but talented) Ghostwriter. I would appreciate it much more, if the unknown Ghostwriter would do the singin, even if (s)he can't sing well. That way Pop would earn my Respect. But not the way it is right now, just some other mainstream thingy. Oh how I hate that!
Peace out,

I don't bother to hate the music I can't stand because I don't have to listen to it. I don't hate any of the boy/girl bands or angsty filled new rock groups because I won't give them any of my time.
There is no law anyone has to listen to pop music. It does take some effort to go out and find your own tastes though. Not too much, since more than a few amv creators here have a nice wide variety of good tastes ^_^

Indeed. Radio has become so useless to me. It's gotten to the point where singing isn't even musical on the radio. And the music that they sing to sucks. I mean, even look back at the 80s. And Madonna was rising. I compare Madonna to today's pop, and they totally contrast. Madonna has a voice. Not a bad one either, look at "Frozen." But... grah. Pop = evil.MistyCaldwell wrote:Not that all old music was great, but look at some of the artists from the age before music video. They weren't model material, but they had talent and could actually pick up a musical instrument and play it. I find it hard to call today's singers musicians at all.
After a while, I got sick of everything. So I switched to classical music channels. But then, the people talk in this extremely dull voice for 30 minutes in between each song.
So about pop. No, it won't die. It's transient but it will never leave. It's static, but always changing. And I think what I've decided is this: once something becomes popular and over-played, I will most likely cease to like it despite how good it used to be. The reason being that the reason it was good is now tainted by popular interpretation. The majority of society ("pop" society) will cling to music for nearly the complete opposite reason that I would.

The thing that really annoys me is all these poppy, radio-friendly songs with that cheesy, studio gloss-over feel to them. You can tell there was no particular vision behind this kind of stuff, it's just calculated melodies drenched in sugary sweetness that's so obviously manipulative you feel like vomiting.
If I'm not making much sense, sorry, I don't know how else to describe it.
A lot of popular movies have a similar problem, they have this air of unreality about them that feels annoyingly contrived.

I know exactly what you mean.
That's what I can't stand with all these pop songs. They are just made to entertain the masses / make the most money out of it. I only listen to music, where the musician/arist really wants to say something thru the music, some kind of message (even if the message is tiny). That way I know for sure, that the artist made the music because he felt like it, and he wanted to share something with the world, not only because he wanna get rich...

excellent point NPC ... i was aruging this point the other day when a friend and i were discussing the new Nirvana song. my point ws .. The reason that nirvana was so popular , and translates as a hit today , is because kurt cobain had such a unique voice that wasnt perfect. And in a world of perfect melodies and everyone sounding like pearl jam (or creed, if you only 14) its nice to hear something that isnt perfect. The thing that really annoys me is all these poppy, radio-friendly songs with that cheesy, studio gloss-over feel to them. flawed, but yet .. it works .
no matter how much you hate courtney love, listen to doll parts .. or any other song from that cd.... and ask your self "who else could they get to sing these songs?" -and if you say avril lavene then you should be shot.
www.mp3.com/freako <--- you can do an AMV with one of these songs !

Exactly. There's a german band called "Sportfreunde Stiller", their singer can't really sing, I mean he's far away from a perfect voice, but they make hell of a smooth music, damn good. That's what counts...Freako wrote:excellent point NPC ... i was aruging this point the other day when a friend and i were discussing the new Nirvana song. my point ws ..
