I never say that. I've used my AMV skills for three english projects and got As on them (and it was a final). Editing skills can come in handy an awful lot in unexpected places. I've catalogued two of the AMVs on this database as a matter of fact.

Very nice paper. It's very well written and interesting to read. I hope you got a good grade on it (for originality if nothing else).

BTW, I believe that this line,

Was meant as an inside joke/play on words. Machine the editor vs machine the system, the faceless hierarchy that runs movies, music, etc. He wasn't calling Carlos corrupt or a popularity sell-out; he was making an inside joke that only someone within the AMV subculture would catch.

Da Paper

Post by BishounenStalker » Sat Dec 07, 2002 1:33 am

Well, good news is I got an A on that paper (if for nothing else than I confused the Prof, LOL). At any rate, the sellouts I was referring to were the nameless, faceless, way-too-overproduced DBZ/Linkin Park videos and the "Asuka's Last Stand"-slapped-onto-random-metal-song videos. Since Eva, DBZ, Linkin Park, and metal are all popular, combining them yields popular (if extremely low quality most of the time) videos. And yeah, that line was sort of an inside joke ^_^

What I meant by "The Machine" was the corporate engine that controls the marketing of virtually all media. There's no way they can touch us directly because of a little thing called copyright. It's a double edged sword: keeps us safe from being media sellouts, but it also keeps us from mking ANY legitimate money. Which is fine by me.

The good thing is, I got to expose my prof and the entire class to AMVs. A clssmate brought in her uber-neat laptop that has the ability to hook up to a TV, and I played the "Right Now Someone is Reading This Title" video. Half the class were anime fans, and even though my prof wasn't, it cracked him up anyway ^_^

If you kept up with my work, you would have discovered that I got pretty famous for using a shitload of stobing effects (Debuted in the Faces of Death AMV) :P

Castor refers to my ButterFly video with Boogiepop Phantom which ende up scaring him

Feh, watch Hrash Reality sometime. It has Teh Uber StrobeTM.

Nice paper Bishounen Stalker, reminds me of this fall when I wrote about making AMVs in one of my college application essays.

There is no WAY they accepted you on that. If they knew that half of your life was consumed by producing useless art, they would KNOW you won't do any studying!
