Need to know if its okay to upload God of War video.

In the end it's up to the admins to decide on a case by case basis. Yes there are some double standards (origional animation comes to mind) but it's ultimately their decision. Certain things are blatently obvious, others will be determined on that case by case basis even if that case by case basis results in contradictions or whatnot.

So for stuff like Appleseed and Castevania: Curse of Darkness, it may be okay to use them if the admin decides that they are animish enough so as to guarantee a pass. Hmm...I will have to chew on this for a while. So the bottom line of things seems to be "if it looks close enough to being anime, it is so." Well...certain exceptions will apply of course, such as "Teen Titans."

teen titans is an american based animation and not considered anime.

I know this because i made a teen titans amv a year or two ago right after teen titans was no longer allowed to be uploaded.

I know Teen Titans is an Americanized thing which is why I said "with certain exception."

It's sort of as if the Japanese made a game based off of the simposons/futurama/etc. Technically it is Japanese, but unfortunatly it isn't anime in the truest sense of the word. Still...there are always the hard to tell ones. For example; "Advent Children." Is that anime or no? Doesn't look it, but from the game and all, it is. Still I have at *least* an idea of what is or isn't anime. Well...no, not really, but I understand a good more now then I did then.

Still I have one last question; how can you *tell* if something is Japanese? I mean, as way of example, Cyber 9 would get turned down in a heart beat due to the Canada thing and all, so how would you give this thing a litmus test in order to tell?

Usually the production credits are a clear indicator as well as the region of release and the names in the credits -- since "produced by a japanese company for a predominantly japanese audience" is still the first and foremost indicator this site uses.

*agrees* Also, check to see if it's been entered as an anime before - if not, it's a good chance it's been thought of before and rejected, unless it's super-flaming-new.

Above all, though, I think you shouldn't worry about it until you've already finished a video with those things. Rather than driving yourself to distraction with vague abstractions, that is. You can what-if all day, but ultimately it doesn't mean anything.

There's the whole rest of the internet to post non-anime videos, so it's not as though you're not allowed to make them. Don't worry about it that much, and good luck on 'em.

It's clearly stated that North American Icons solely used in games made by the Japanese are not anime (i.e. Spiderman, Superman, etc)

Bottom line: We do our best to determine if it's Japanese based and if the content is in the spirit of Anime.

It's very fuzzy at time and when it the grey things can go either way, and as such you take that chance when submitting. In the end, this site is dedicated to ANIME music videos, as since gamming footage is allowed, it still needs to be in that style or have some sort of connection to it. If you follow that, then the odds are your fine

And trust me, confirming games is not a fun job and is the most time consuming part of confirming titles.
