hobby
i use wmm. i've spent a few scores on anime dvds, but those weren't just for editing but also personal entertainment.

or you could say its the way of .1% of my life.

hobby and way of life aren't mutually exclusive.

Two sayings come to mind:
"Love what you do"
"Do what you love"
So..... I think a lot of us wouldn't mind avoiding the distinction.

AMVing is a hobby, but like alot of other hobbies, it can be used as a stepingstone to a way of life.. or rather a way to make a living, since you get valuable experience in software and techniques used by profesionals in the media world.

Its a hobby for me, but hobby is a very broad general term. This is a hobby but its also a legitimate form of art in my opinion. A really good video is something that people can watch forever.

Art is art is art.
Couldn't have put it better myself.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

This is very true. I learned how to handle and otherwise work with projection equipment with my anime club. Now I get paid to do it. And I get to add 'video editing skills' to my resume, too.

Hobby? Way of life?

More like...all part of a more diabolical plan.

My job description is Programmer. But since they know of my AMV work, I'm now doing video editing, effects, and DVD authoring at work as well.
