hello , im bum, enjoy the site :D
first of anime ROCKS, i've gone back to my roots where i used to hire as many anime dvds as possible and try and watch them all in one night. I've also been drawing manga and find it soooo rewarding, lots of progress in really short time, but when my friend showed me an amv called bleed the sky i was completely blown away!
yeah, anime rocks. and amv's just make them rock harder
so i got all the programs, my friend lent me plenty of good dvds
good to see your not using downloaded or bootleg'd footage (hopefully). but try buys some dvd's yourself (and readthis thread/guide so ya dont get caught out with dodgy bootlegs), you'l feel beter for it :D
okay so i;ve got a few problems/questions
most technical questions are answered in the video general/hardware/software sections of the board. so post any vid related questions thier. also, click on the search button and do a search before posting any questions, as yours might have bein answered allready (saving you alot of time :D )
1. i am runing out of space: i followed the guides and my hdd is almost gone, 2 gigs left, i even sacrificed my favourite video game counter-stike which i truly regret, is there any way to achive high quality without so much space taken up
check out this thread
2. When i try to put effects in premire they just dissappear as soon as a press play or do u guys do all the effects in after effects? i don't even know how to fade them in and out.
um, for transitions, thier should be a timeline for effects. place the transition in it, place one video in a timeline over it and one under it. make sure that the videos are both directly over/under any part of the transition, with one video ending before the other starts. thats how ya do it as far as me can remember (sory i aint used premier in ages).
3. How many dvds do u guys work with? my first amv which went for 25's was ghost in the shell, but my latest one i want at least 3 dvd's on the same amv? is this crazy or do all people do it?
with alot of amv's that are doen with multiple amv's, the creator usualy just rips the scenes that they think will be good and usefull (planing is the first step to a greate amv. get a pen and paper and start writing, trust me, it helps more than you could ever imagine).
4. Does every1 think there amv's are fantastic. genius, magic or is it just me.
personaly, the only amv of mine i realy love is the one that people generaly think sux. but you generaly think less of your older amv's the beter your get at making amv's.
thats it people, i want to fisnish my latest one asap as i could be the next big thing :P
i have a shrine dedicated to kevil kadwell, i pray to him every day in hope that il one day il have created the next big thing :P
lysergic wrote:yeah by dvds i mean movies, but if u don't use premire what do u use?
i use vegas4. whips premiers ass in every was possible (well, premier is faster when it
ANIME ROCKS ANIME ROCKS ANIME ROCKS ANIME ROCKS ANIME ROCKS ANIME ROCKS ANIME ROCKS

If you're using an mpeg1 codec you could go ahead and switch all those vobs to an avi format, it really doesnt do any damage at all, and it looks just as good as the avi synth.

But if you're gonna use like xvid or something, it's best to buy a new harddrive, I bought my 80gig seagate last week at walmart for $79.99 and it works really well, it's worth it trust me, I've been editing with a 10gb harddrive for nearly a year, and now that I've switched to an 80gig, I just dont know how I did it.

And last but not least, try and try till you get your own way of doing things, everyone here has atleast one diffrence (I venture to say more than one) in the way they rip/use footage, so try, if you fail No biggy. But if you find a better way well then. Rock on :)

Im using 2 external hard drives to save my VOBs , and they work pretty good , they are slow a bit to transfer huge files , but no problems to edit them with AviSynth ^^

I've bought around 30 dvds this year (for amv's) a year harddrive, new pc parts (which died so =\ wasted money) 12 new cd's, and a few other things.

About 300 dollars in all... But to be honest, it's a hobby it's worth it.

Amv's are my drug, and they cost a hell of a lot less than pot or something... So yay to that.

By the way, check your drive for virus'.

I have over 10 dvds of db ripped to my drive, plus 2 of trigun and 1 of blue seed with over 40 gigs still left, so somethings up.

anyway lysi (can i call ya lysi ?) , try doing this to get a few gigs back. go to start>run. then type in <drive letter>:\system volume information and delete all the stuff thier. then go to my computer. click on the control panel button. in the control panel, double click on system, then click on the system restore tab. and tick the "turn off system restore on all drives" . ok and ya probaly woent want to use system restore because its not realy usefull for the agerage user. just make sure to back up all ya files, and keep a copy of winxp handy in case of emergency.
