When in doubt use an instrumental. A classic piece would be interesting. There is some good stuff off the Gin-roh soundtrack which comes with the DVD. Also try mixing audio from the movie, I know I'm not the only one who does this. Especially if youre doing an instrumental adding additonal audio really helps.
I understand the trouble of finding a matching song and have been forced many times to use an unusual choice. I made one X vid with whatever from God Smack.... ouh man I shouldn't have said that now you guys are going to jump me for sure. My point here is that using a song that doesn't fit isn't such a bad idea because it forces you to be creative, and try different things to make it fit.

No, I'm serious.

Actually, I was thinking of doing an X/TV AMV to Evanesence's "My Immortal", but only because the themes of "You're here but really not" fit Inuki and that little school girl perfectly... I WILL master that song someday...

But yeah, aside from whateveryone else said, X songs are hard to find. It really depends on what theme you want. Then everyone could be more specific with your song suggestions. =p
