Do you think that might be the main reason, then--just that creators realize that a sizeable portion of their audience is comprised of English-speakers? Do they do it just so rich American kids will feel special and buy the series when it's released?

Now a days, everyone in the world is speaking english. It has become a universal language. I think that creators know that and are taking advantage of that to get the messages out into the minds of the viewers ...

I know that, personally, when I throw out the occasional French or Japanese word or phrase, it's because <i>that's the first thing that came to mind to say,</i> not because I'm trying to be "cool".

Just recently I was looking at scans of this manga that takes place in England...and there's this one part where one of the characters starts telling another character off in English. What struck me as funny was that this character was supposed to be fluent in English, but when I was reading the dialogue you could tell that the person who wrote the manga (I think it was Takehito Koyasu) wasn't all that great at it because there were some parts that made absolutely no sense.

Heh, I eat lunch with a bunch of English people, with the exception of one person. On the occasions when some of my french teachers pass by and we start conversing in French, it drives them up the wall, they don't understand why I'd use it out of class. I say use whatever knowledge comes to you.

Yeah ive noticed that when i read some mangas, the transations are off and im like wat was that .. i read it over and im like, ok we need to give these translators an english class. But i only find those rarely so i dont really mind. But if i kne Japanese and knew how to read it, i would just stick with the japanese translation because it tells the story better because they is no translation error.

I usually never speak spanish outside of spanish class ... i dont find the need to with my friends. I mean, y speak another language when u dont have to and arent graded on it. I only time i speak spanish when im outside of class is when i happen to stumble across my spanish teachers and they ask me a question in spanish and i respond in spanish, u gotta suck up to them u kno .. .. i hardly ever speak spanish anymore, i maybe say a whole spanish phrase once a month ... i need to start that back up again so that i can tell weither someone is talking abad about me o not ..

Meh I'm billingual, I'm used to French. It's something I do without even thinking of it.
