What is vegas, where can I get it, and how is it better than premiere?
Sony's Vegas is another video editing program that is comparable to Premiere. You can read about it at these links:
http://www.creativecow.net/articles/vegasvideo.html
http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/p ... sp?PID=808
One other question what is the name of the effect that makes the video look kinda like an old film reel that isn't holding up too well....
With Premiere, select QuickTime effects, then Film Noise.

I wouldn't ask for help until I've exausted almost all other resources because I hate asking for help but right now I have no choice.
you dont generaly have to have a big, loud banging opening with transitions and stuff for an amv to be good. actualy a good amv doesnt realy need any effects at all. it all depends on the effect your trying to get. and also, dont try to make your second amv a piece of absolute genius, just go a bit beter each time and learn slowly, watch amv's, lots of them, watch them lots of times. learn from others.

think ok vegas this way. if vegas is pure 24carrat gold, then permier would be the little clusters of dust down the bottom of thoughs huge garbage bins. basicaly vegas is prety much beter than any video editor out in every way possible (except for the kinda slow exporting, beter than premeir which crashes every 10 minutes though). just download the the trial and you'll see.

and dont worry about asking for help. if no-one asked for help then it would realy make a-m-v.org a hell of alot less of a comunity, and make it seem alot less profesional than it actualy is. as long as you dont ask "how do i make an amv ?" then we'll be happy to answer any Q's ya got.

I just do a simple title/song&artist/anime/creator, just like any LA music video you would see on VHS or MTV, because simplicity is best, though for the one I am working on now I have this neat little idea that could look really cool :D
Look at me! Look at me! I posted in WOT so I must be evil!!! [/sarcasm]

Excuse me, I've been running Premiere Pro for two weeks now, and it has crashed on me once, maybe twice. And NEVER during exporting. (Heck, Premiere 5.1 never crashed during exporting either.)

well ive tried basicaly every vid editor for windows (except premier pro) and ive found that vegas 4 is outright the best one thier is despite my bitching about its slow encoding times, which sux, but a shiny little program called power off has made life much easier
