Nope. Under a rock, probably. Like me.

If you think your system is bad then mine must be really bad. But look at what I just churned out of it. It just means you'll have to work a little harder and longer.

Oh, that goes without saying. I'm still struggling with it, coz I'm only a rank amateur at editing. I'm good with timing and fades, and overlays (but only simple ones) but thats about it. Geez, the vid I'm working on now uses only strobing, fading and white matte overlays. Not that spectacular, but it still looks cool.

When it takes 2 minutes to render 1 second of mjpeg video.
When your computer is far too slow to edit HuffYUV
When your hard drive is not large enough to host more than DivX clips
When you don't have a DVD drive
When you only have VirtualDub and paint under Win98.

I have edited ONCE a video with a good computer, at a friend's house (it was to compile Animix). That makes a difference : wow, you edit HuffYUV at a very high quality, when you have an idea for an effect it takes no time to test it...Editing on this machine was GOOD.
I saw the difference with my comp, where I have to edit mjpeg, and sometimes I don't know if my transparency settings will work the same way when I put back the HuffYUV files...it takes years when you put more than 1 effect on a video, etc...

EQUIPMENT IS A LIMITING FACTOR.
Of course the guy behind the computer is 90% of the work, but when you have good hardware, it makes life easier.
Software is a bit different, though, I don't think it is essential to have the latest editing software.

Yea hardware only helps make thing go smoother. and software only helps the editor do what he/shee needs to do. but it's the editor that has to make the video, not the software or the hardware.

PS if that made any sence... it's 2:19am and i am on cold medication so yea... i can't think straight... /me sleeps

Oh I know Koop is still around, but he hasn't posted at the Org for over a month and he's not even on AIM nearly as much as he used to be.

and again, here we have more examples of just why effects are a poision to AMV art.......

someone new here takes a look at the most OMGWTF amazing video EVAR!!!! and what did they see......the effects......

SS5_Majin_Bebi, did you even get the story in the AMV at all...i mean, really, or were you to busy gawking at the OMGWTF effects to even see it.

and we wonder why koop is laying low

that video has a most amazing story, but like NO ONE ever gets it. has meaning and substance lost everything in this comunity?

no, just look at vicbonds masters winner. charcole dreams, or just about any of the drama entries into the masters and AWA pro contest. i LOVED awa this year, it returned my faith inthe AMV world, cuz of the amount of quality AMVs that were not koopisems.
