Yeah...it's almost impossible to pull off a project that would be "perfect" for anything. Perfection is an idealism that will drown you in failure, seek instead excellence.

Great wisdom ^_^ It's hard to enjoy a video that you made, even if it's great. You just can't watch it without seeing that place where you used After Effects, and that scene that was a brat to encode...

The best amvs are ones that you love and can interpret and watch without 'baggage'.

I think the point has been made that there is no such thing as an altimate video. Each person has thier own view on that. For example, I could never do a video like Euphoria since it's not my style at all.

Yes the video is good and has it's place, but for me it's more of a creation with fancy and flashy effects and the story is for the most part is lost in it. I on the other hand am more for videos with strong emotional stories, hence for the most part, I like to convey that in mine and hide all the visual effects. OS I see visual effects in a totaly different light then Koop for example, but that's ok since it's good that we all have our own perceptions, it makes the world a more interesting place! BUT I wouldn't go as far to say that his video is better than say Believe by kevin Caldwell just because of the effects (you see my point!)

IN the end, everyone has a different perspective of the altimate video and hence there is no such universal thing. For me the ultimate video is totaly different then what others would thing and hence the question is just no relavent....

As dokool said, there's no one way for an AMV to look. Personally, I think Euphoria looks nice, I like looking at flashy stuff, I think flashy stuff has a place in MVs, and I borrowed/tweaked one of its visual devices for one of my videos, but that's really all I can get out of it. (If there is a story, I must have been dreaming or I wasn't onto something. Pinch me to waking.)

I find something visually simple like this to be much more fulfilling...
Regular MADs maybe, but that vid doesn't resemble the might of Shueishiga... if you don't know what that is, don't bother, cause once you do, all hi-quality amvs go down the shitter...

Once the ultimate and ideal video is created, there will be no better video afterwards. That's why I hope it won't be created for a long time.
