It's very funny. That the whole reason I like it. If it makes me laugh I will buy.

Don't mistake exotic, extreme, or radical thinking for being open minded. If your belief keeps you from see all three sides of the coin, than your mind is closed.

I own that on DVD, didn't know there was a movie though, guess best to avoid it.
As for overrated, i didn't know anything about it before i watched it, actually the only thing i did hear heaps about was Bebop which i didn't find all to impressive.
Guess its good never to really hear any hype about a series.
Although, these days, i even have access to that anime mag, and host of online sourses.
Still, no one really mentions things i haven't seen.
Ruri was aswome, she made me go to subtitles rather then dubbing.
I was dissapointed, i was hoping for something more insulting/perverted and entirely wroung as i've come to expect when reading Mroni's posts. As for Ruri I would like to know where she has been done before. A little girl with a mind that is used as a sex object that always calls everyone Baka.
Sorry I'll have you know good sir that Ruri is an inspiration to me. I wack to her frequently I may add.
Mr Oni
Purity is wackable!

If I hadn't watched Nadesico, I never would have watched: Tenchi Muyo, Slayers, fullmetal.panic!, Love Hina, or Excel Saga. Before I watched Nadesico, I was only interested in serious and dramatic anime. I thought comedic anime was ridiculous slapstick that made no sense whatsoever and wasn't worth my time. Nadesico convinced me otherwise and opened me up to some really enjoyable series. It was a comedic anime that also was balanced by romance, drama, and giant robots fighting a galactic war. And when I first watched it I found Nadesico a very unique experience. It had strange elements like the video screens that continuously pop up, cluttering up space and showing funny messages. It was the first anime that I saw that could have a memorable character die within the first 3 episodes. It was my first time viewing an anime with really bad puns that make about as much sense as the jokes my deranged friend makes. It's the first anime I saw where the 'enemies' biblical inspiration was a Super Robot Anime. To make things short, there were many things I found different and engrossing about Nadesico, that I hadn't experienced before I watched it. And I'm very glad that I did watch.
Personally, I also think AD Vision's translation for the series took a lot of the humor and meaning out of it. (I still vastly prefer the fansubs to my Nadesico DVDs, even if it's a lot lower video quality.)
As to the question about a second series, it's very doubtful. It's already been more than half a decade since Nadesico started airing and around half a decade since the movie came out. Sega had a hand in the making of the Nadesico anime, but they haven't had much time to work on any anime projects the last few years, and the artist in charge of the anime character designs, keiiji gotoh has been busy working on other projects like Munto, Gatekeepers, Real Bout High School, and Kiddy Grade. The Nadesico manga that was created by Kia Asamiya continues the story past where the anime ends. So you can check that out if you want to get an idea of what happens between the end of the series and the start of the movie.
