'Am I Real' - AMV video artist required for Song!

Hi,

I've recently found this site and in doing so have painfully realised that video editing is not my art form. I am frankly blown away by the talent exhibited on this site.

So, I am looking for a video artist who would like to create an AMV for one of my songs.

The song 'Am I Real' is on the album 'Brave New World' which is to be relased worldwide on or around March 24th, (appearing on iTunes, napster, HMV etc etc) and so a companion video would be a lot of fun and I'd love to see what could be done with it. The song itself revolves around the birth of the first sentient 'AI' like form and so should create a great opportunity for some amazing videos.

I put together a 'picture' video initially which will show you the song.

The song is on Youtube (Y-ou-t-ube) - just search for Flynnstudio and it's about the 5th one down called 'Am I Real - Chris Flynn'. (since I can't link it here for some reason just get booshack)

You'll receive full credit and retain absolute commercial copyright and if it ever goes 'commercial' and get's a cleared release you'll obviously get any payments forthcoming for it. Obviously I am happy for you to do with the finished product as you like.

Hopefully you'll take this posting in the spirit with which it's put up ie as an opportunity for an interesting and mutually beneficial collaboration and not some cheap shill

I'm hoping this could be the start of a beautiful thing, (no, I amtotally genuine here!) and maybe a chance at creating something twice as special together with someone with talent in a sympathetic art form.

While you've piqued my interest, and I can certainly imagine how I would approach editing a video to this song, have you considered the fact that amvs are using copyrighted footage from films and television series? If you want an amv to have commercial applications then that could prove quite the hurdle.

However, I am interested and also quite capable of working with non-anime footage if needed. If you'd like a sample of my work, feel free to contact me by pm/email/instant messenger (I'm afraid my a-m-v.org profile only has my first video at the moment).

Thanks for your reply. I'll contact you via pm!. Just d/l' ding your movie now.

Obviously it wouldn't be used in any direct commercial applications, sold or licensed without the relevant clearance from the appropriate licensee's - but as they say 'we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!.'

without wanting to dredge up the debate on the legality of 'mashups', I can certainly certify that I am the copyright holder of the soundtrack so at the very least there'll be no heat on that score.

At the very least it could be a great little AMV project which has an anime relevant story to it which should make the editing possiblities great fun.!

I wouldn't recommend asking for amv's for commercial usage. The people who edit these video's don't have the rights to use it as it is. Thus releasing it as a commercial product would be out of the question, and could get not only you but us as a community into some serious trouble. I would recommend you should rather look into original animation for your video clip, rather then usage of copyrighted material. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Thanks Niotex, I appreciate the advice...

Right now I don't see how if differs from anything else that's being done on this site with the exception that I own the soundtrack. It's still a genuine AMV. There is no way on earth that this site has escaped the attention of the major anime studio's already so I'm not exposing 'the secret club' here!.

To calrify , I'm not planning on using the AMV in any form of commercial activity and so it will exist within the same boundaries that everything else here does. The artist will be free to use it and host it as his own work *but* if my record company wanted to take it somewhere then that would be there problem to solve. They certainly aren't going to trangress legal boundaries! The video artist would own the intellectual property of the piece and the clips obviously to the original licence holders.

As you say at that point a decision may be made to 're-work' the piece to avoid commercial problems and the video artist would probably have a wild and exciting ride.
At this point in time it's a bit of fun like everything else and maybe as I said the start of some great collaborational friendships.

I hope that puts everyone's minds at rest...

Its good to see you know where you stand in the copyright business, so I'll leave it at that. As for myself I'd see this song work better with some original animation in terms of a avatar. Just a thought.
