Anime Mid Atlantic AMV Contest Winners....

Post by Gene Starwind 21122 » Sat Mar 03, 2007 2:35 pm

This years contest was great and the Audience enjoyed it alot. I think this has been one of the bigger turn outs. Nearly 800 votes were casted for this contest by the audience. We had 2/3 of the room filled Friday and a full room Saturday. Thanks to everyone who submitted. I'll be posting the rules in November for the 2008 contest. You can expect the deadline to be sometime in late April or early May. I would like to have more time with creating slides and intros then I had this year to make an even better contest presentation.

And if you won a prize or are a runner up please email me so we can talk about mailing your prizes.

The AMV Contest will take place on

Friday
4PM-6PM

Saturday
2:30PM-4:30PM

And I'll have the AMV Contest Replay on Sunday changed to a General Screening where all the videos will be shown. (Some videos from the contest may need to be cut to show the one's that didn't make the finals.) I want to have all the videos shown that were submitted. So if you are coming to convention you will be able to see your video on the big screen at least one time. I wanted to make sure you guys got that chance.

Sunday
Sunday 10AM-12PM

The awards will be handed out at closing cermonies on Sunday at 3:00pm. If you did submit be sure to be at closing cermonies. Even if you are not one of the finalist. I'll have something there for you as well.

Good luck to everybody this year. This has been one interesting contest to judge. Now that we know the judge's awards, its time to see what the audience votes for.

And we have an amv panel at 10pm Friday night.

Also an AMV Critique panel Sunday 12:30pm-2:30pm. Feel free to stop by and join in on the fun.

ALSO if you are attending the convention let me know ahead of time so that way I can get you an amv badge for the screening to get you special seating for the contest. I'm trying to organize a creator gathering at the convention too.

Is this even possible with MPEG-1?

Also, if we edit our video at 29.97 fps interlaced, does that mean we must attempt to deinterlace it when finished, or what?

Forget I mentioned the Non-Interlace video part because they must have used something different last year. I'm using Nero DVD Burner to burn the contest to DVD. It has worked well in the past with videos that were submitted in these formats:

- MPEG 1 or 2
- HuffYUV avi
- Uncompressed avi
- Divx avi
- Xvid avi

I appreciate it. It makes it less work for me and plus less blame on me because the quality of your submission is in your hands. I want this contest to go flawlessly if it can. Knowing from my past experience at panels. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong type of idea. So I got to be prepared for everything when running this contest. I have back up plans made just incase one of the DVD's decide to give out me. I'll have my computer with me just incase the DVD player goes. I want everyones video to be shown in the best quality they can be.

Gene Starwind 21122

Also we have 2 submissions so far and both are for Action. Keep them coming.

Most cons' AMV contests do have this requirement, you know. It's pretty standard.
