Looking for collaborators

Post by TheShaggyFreak » Thu Feb 22, 2007 4:52 pm

Here's the scoop...

I'm 33 years old and music is my business. It's a labor of love but I'm lucky enough to be able to put my own business together albeit is a small one. So, these days I spend my time writing music, recording other peoples music and do a bit of sound design.

I've always been impressed with some of you AMV folks and I've attempted my hand one one before but I just couldn't get into it as far as the video editing goes. I guess it's just not my thing. I have been wanting to branch out, though, and I'd love to start doing more work writing music for different digital mediums.

So, I'm looking for video editors that would like to work with me on some projects. The only con I tend to go to these days, though, is Otakon but I would take AMVs for other cons into consideration. I can do things one of 3 ways: Give someone a pre-existing song of mine to use, write a new song to match the characteristics of the video or I can score a song to a video that has already been edited together.

Feel free to contact me if you are interested and maybe we can work together on a project.

I suppose it would help if I spelled collaborators correctly. :)

I would suggest that you post some music to let us see exactly what you sond like. Otherwise, nobody will be interested.

You can find samples of his work by following the second link in his signature; HOWEVER, the "Music" page doesn't work in Opera. I had to open the page in Firefox before the little media player would come up.

Yes, I should have mentioned that the links in my sig have tunes you can listen to. A lot of the stuff I currently have posted is more electronic in nature, although, I do write other music as well. Right now I'm living in an apartment and it's hard to use loud amplifiers to record. My wife and I are getting a house, soon, though and I plan on doing a wider array of styles. :)

Ahh, I never realized that didn't work in Opera. It's just a small application built with Flash, though. At some point I may put up an alternative to the Wimpy Player.

I just downloaded Opera and the Music page works fine with it on my end. *Shrug*

Ahh, I missed this post the first time I read through. Your work is pretty good there! I took a look at your Character Animation Demo Reel 2005. Film and animation is something I'm looking forward getting into more as far as scoring goes. A friend of mine is in the process of editing a short horror film that I'm going to score once all is ready.

I'm amazed at the talent that is out there these days. People learn so quickly. Hell, I've gotten a lot better at writing over the past year and a half since I quit my desk job.

My mistake, I should have specified that it doesn't work in Opera 8.0.

I'll be in touch then :) I'm going to try and short animation first, probably in the range of 5 minutes or so (as well as some amv's I'm working on to kinda test my stuff) to get started, then depending on results decide to go for a Makoto Shinkai type thing from there. (30 min or so)
