
The cathedral from a window in Commandant’s House

The place where the leaders of the infamous Decembrist rebellion stood when their death sentence was read out in 1826. They were executed nearby, beside the present-day Artillery Museum.

An exhibition, featuring video, about the installation of the massive Alexander’s Column – the largest solid granite structure in the world, standing tall in the middle of Palace Square. It was created from a huge rock in Finland, and placed to commemorate the Russian victory over Napoleon in 1812.
