Why do I only smell disater coming from this :? Youtube, Myspace, and now this site amvspace.com. Then there is this comment

" I'm sorry to be ruin the party, but unless you get clearence from the owners of the music and anime this is grounds for Unauthorized Duplication. Which could be considered an illegal copyright violation.
Getting clearance for something of this nature is REALLY easy though. All it takes is an email describing that you don't intend to profit and most owners will glady give permission. It's the principle of NOT asking for it which will anger owners"

Made me laugh. Easy umm... what planet is he from. Business don't give a damn why you are doing it they car about is $$$$$$$$$$$$$. When are people going to learn to just keep there mouth shut about asking these companies about amv's.

well whatever happened to honor among thieves?

found another line in the "guide" that probably should be changed, though I don't know how to make it seem constructive. (last paragraph above #2)

"Find anime or anime clips (or even getting clips from existing AMVs)"
it was worse (it suggested stealing some clips from whisper of the beast)...but still

keep in mind: the org is not the entire world of AMVs. there are people who don't care much about video quality or getting credit for their work so much as they care about being able to share their videos quickly and easily with as wide and as technologically primitive an audience they can.

sites that provide streaming video for AMVs won't have the best video quality and allow members to upload videos that aren't their own, but that doesn't mean it's in everyway inferior.

in my opinion: the ability to distribute high (compression) quality videos on the org has bred an artistic [and dare i say the 'e word'] view of AMVs, where compression quality has become an essential component of the subjective quality of the video, and control of distribution must be limited to the video creator (in contradiction to the lack of distribution control of the original anime and music artists). Video streaming sites recognize AMVs more as entertainment, where the importance isn't so much in the video itself, but rather in the pleasure the viewers gain from watching the video at lower costs (in terms of download times, finding codecs etc), regardless of whether the creator or some random fan uploaded the video.

and along that note: it's not WRONG to disobey the technical guides. for some people, making AMVs in under 2 hours by using fraps and windows movie maker is a blast. they don't want to go through the whole process of ripping, processing, post processing and 2-pass compressing. if you want to berate them for not meeting the standards you've established on the editing process, that's your decision, but ya look like an idiot to me.

Edit work produced by an animation studio to music - properly citing sources and not in any way claiming we actually made the source in question.

Sure, diferences disapear when you generalize everything... but that's how propaganda works too.
