I... didn't... make... Finals....

I guess I really do suck as an editor. (cue other "regulars" around here going "that's what we've been trying to tell you" *sigh*)

Realistically, the competition was tough, and it was utterly difficult for me to make finals with these finalists. For such a relatively tiny convention, it gets quality entries. My entries certainly pale in comparison to the finalists'.

I guess there's a small bright side to this.... at least it has freed up some more time to spend elsewhere at the convention. If I'm going at all, that is.

(oh, and Bryan, PLEASE DON'T CALL ME.)

Please don't shit up this thread with self-centered whining. Nobody else is complaining they might not attend the contest/convention simply because their video didn't get in.

Ok, we have to see you in da Lavie Head costume now ...... :D
let me dig it out and see if I can borrow a friend's camera over the weekend. It's really not that complicated of a costume and I wonder how the character didn't accidentally flash people more often with its length.

And Brakus, enough already. You do this every time. It is tiresome. Nobody singles you out and it is competitive to get in to some of the larger contests. You know, I wasn't actually expecting to get in with my vid. It's still a bit unfinished in a couple spots that I want to tidy up and it was mostly a case of 'oh might as well' Life goes on. This really is not all that important.

Wanna know how many awards I had won prior to two weeks ago? Zero. Reactior and Youmacon changed that but it wasn't necessary to fulfill my life dream. Of course you've heard this befpre, and hear it every contest. I think it is safe to say everyone is tired of it and you don't seem to get it. Please if you only make vids for recognition, then stop making them. It is a hobby to be enjoyed. You don't need to answer to anybody else.

For the record I didn't whine about anybody else's entries. In fact, the single solitary comment that could be even remotely construed as whining was my own self-deprecating comment of "I really do suck as an editor". I mentioned that the competition was tough and it was hard for me to get in. At no point did I demean anybody (but myself) or anyone else's entries.

(And for the record also, Bryan didn't call me after I posted this. Thank heaven for small miracles.)

Corrected and duly noted.

Still it is discouraging for me to submit to a con that I was planning to go to and not make finals in the first place, which then basically discourages me from going to the con in the first place, having wasted all that effort. It sucks that I can submit to other, smaller contests far away and get nominated but never be there to actually see it played during the main showing... and then when I submit to something local, it doesn't make the cut and it makes you look like you've wasted all that effort just to see if your video will be shown during the main showing.

Few people that don't make the cut actually go to the convention, in what I've seen here. Those that don't make a big deal about that do so because they probably weren't planning to go in the first place (or they didn't/couldn't submit at all for some reason). I want to hear from at least one person who is still going to Anime USA this year despite entering the AMV contest and not making the cut. I bet you dollars to donuts that I won't hear from anybody else.

Goddamn it enough! How old are you anyway? According you your livejournal enough to know better. So you aren't bashing other vids for once... we still are tired of your whining EVERY SINGLE TIME.

You know? i could complain about not being able to compete at the cons I actually attend. It's because I am staff and in one case run the amv contest. I have never seen any video of mine played to an audience larger than the anime club at school. So I don't even get that priviledge. That's why I submit to other conventions.

So your vid didn't make it. Enjoy the con. Watch the masqerade, buy shit in the dealer's room, look at cute underage girls in skimpy outfits and see if by chance there's some sort of christian group meeting in the same place that weekend and get a few laughs. Interact with other fans. Attend panels, see the guests. There's a ton of things to do even if you did not make it intot he contest. Hell you can even watch the amv contest which has some really good videos and see how people react and vote for what you enjoyed in the contest.

Since I know you won't get the concept here i think it is time to be blunt. Just don't submit to cons. Don't post in this section if this is how you are going to act. You make yourself look foolish and annoy the hell out of the rest of everyone else. Notice how before you potesd that all the posts were well spirited and upbeat? That's what a hobby should be. So just stop already. If you can't keep your mouth shut go angst on livejournal so that nobody else needs to read you 'woe is me I am so bad so I am going to let everyone know yet again' and let us look forward to the contest and results.

HAZZAH! Anyway ... isn't that the real reason to go ..... Brakus, bitch in private, that's what AIM is for .....

Oh, back to the important stuff, it's better at Anime Detour, cuz most are of age(it's a strange thing, it's one of the few anime cons where a majorty of people are 18+) .... I don't have to feel as "dirty" lmao, though I still am ...... :P

Good I need help, anime has ruined me, ruined I say .....

I'll take that donut! And you can owe the dollar to TH3G3CK0.

AnimeUSA is my favorite of the smaller cons! So many events, so many people, so much fun packed into a small place. It's a non-stop three day party! I don't even know why I bother renting a room!

TH3G3CK0 and I both submitted AMVs to this years AnimeUSA. Based on what we've both seen there in the past neither of us had much hope at all of seeing our AMVs make the cut and we were neither dissapointed nor surprised when that proved to be the case.

The competition and quality of AMVs shown at AnimeUSA are among the best of the best and, even though my AMVs won't be in it, I am looking forward to seeing another great show!

Sure it can be discouraging not to see your entry get a reaction, but hardly to have to react in that way.. My entry did not make Sakura-Con's cut and yet I drow 15 hours to the con, I went to the AMV contest and enjoyed myself...

Either you enjoy going to cons and watching AMVs with your fellow creators and enjoying the con in general, or don't bother in going at all period...
