Due October 27th- Otaku Invitational Entries

Post by a2skinneeJ » Tue Oct 24, 2006 12:12 pm

Teams drawn from anime communities across the internet will compete this fall to create a promotional trailer for an upcoming Central Park Media DVD release of their choice.

All contestants admitted into the event will receive the release they choose to work on, plus an entry gift consisting of anime DVDs and t-shirts, courtesy of CPM.

Each member of the winning team will receive a grand prize bigger than a superdimensional fortress! They'll EACH get Central Park Media's entire massive anime catalog and other rare and collectible merchandise – plus their entry will become the official trailer for the product they picked!

We will rush you the media to work with so that you can meet the October 27th deadline.

How Can I Compete?

Visit http://www.otakucontest.com or email kcain@tapin.net if you're interested.

So if you've already cut your teeth on music videos and fansubs – if you edit movies in your sleep – if your goal in life is to be an anime producer – if you think you've got a team that can make an earth-shattering, ass-kicking, top-notch trailer, click here to apply to participate and make sure to tell us what community you're a part of and why you think your team is ready for the challenge!

Which Upcoming Releases are being Promoted in this Contest?

Each team will be creating a trailer based on one of the following anime box sets or single-DVDs in Central Park Media's fall lineup of product:

Black Jack DVD Collection 1
Black Jack DVD Collection 2
Descendants of Darkness DVD Collection
Legend of Himiko DVD Collection

Good stuff, neh?

Who Determines the Winner of the Contest?

You do! It's a vote by the Hardcore Anime community as a whole. When the trailers are completed, the teams will upload them to Kaneva.com, where you will to watch all the submissions and judge for yourself which one is the best.

Beginning October 27th, you'll be able to cast one vote for as many as you like. The winning trailer will be whichever one attracts the most votes.
You wanna battle? Are you insane like that clown posse?

I would be up to the challenge but only 2 days to edit is kind of a short notice.

Thanks for the offer. I'll try to think if I can think of anything.

Your trailer cannot be a "spoiler" for the program!

I highly suggest the Now and Then, Here and There soundtrack (since it's one of the properties on the list)... it's got some awesome BGM on it.

But no way in hell can I make this in two days. Why were we not told of this sooner?

guess that means i got an advantage....

i'm prolly gunna do one to blackjack though... since its sitting in my anime collection doing nothing.... but making a trailer is gunna be a pain in the ass starting from scratch... and not using copyrighted music or anything..

CPM is hardly a very organized company. But yes, if they would like trailers for their properties it would certainly be in their best interest to promote it openly more than 2 days before the deadline.

Heck with some of the encoding on some shows it would take 2 days to run avisynth scripts to fix the interlacing and rainbowing.

Except, it's only open to U.S citizens. I almost made something when I got a pm about it today. But, then I took a closer look at the rules.

Not to mention, the only anime I like from CMP, I already own >_>

I believe I saw this somewhere on the forum quite a while ago...

Yes, it sounds very familiar.

It kind of went without notice though...
