Hosting your AMVs

Post by SQ » Sun Oct 01, 2006 9:47 pm

Hokay.

I am looking for a cheap webhost. I don't need much, just ftp access, and a lot of bandwidth and storage space.

It's the bandwidth and storage space that is probably going to kill me.

The sites are purely html and sometimes flash. I will be hosting videos for download that contain copyrighted material(AMVs). But also my other things(images, a webcomic, flash shit).

That said, I would like a host that will not:
1.) Kill me financially.
2.) Sue my ass off.
3.) Give me the crappiest upload/download speeds EVER.

A domain name is not needed, but it would be nice if there was one included. If it does include a domain name, I'd like some subdomain names as well.

Um... I'm new to the whole paid-for webhosting thing, so I'm not quite sure how it works. If anyone could explain the basis of what I need to know, that'd be great, too.

Thanks.

Edit:

I was looking at Espinda, and it seems too good to be true(the second package). Has anyone had any past expierence with them?

edit2: I originally posted this on another site, so to make this useful here, what webhosts have you guys had expierence with, what do you use, how much does it cost, etc.?

and if she decides to go 1and1, they give you a domain(or 2 or more depending on the hosting plan you choose) without charging for it

my webhost is godaddy.com

the pakage I got offers 1TB a month of bandwidth and 50GBs of disk space. all for 4 bucks a month. Grant it, I had to pay for 3 years of hosting up front to get that rate, but in the end I got a faster host then I had prior for 4x the price (which oddly enough is the company my old host gets thier hosting from... go figure)

So I'm going to assume that godaddy also allows adult content? ;)

unless your starting a bukkake webcam service, i doubt you'll have any trouble with content from any host.
...are you, btw?

nope, they dont.

it is usually a good idea to provide some kind of statement about content. If I remember correctly, and if the laws haven't changed, you kinda are required to state that the content is adult and not safe for those under the legal age to view such material.

if you provide that, there are very few hosts that will have a problem with adult material (I do know of a few but I don't know if they still exist)
