FLCL deinterlacing

Post by Jebadia » Mon Sep 18, 2006 8:13 pm

I've been messing around with the guides suggestions for the various deinterlacing methods. However I have yet to square down on a good way to deinterlace FLCL (while maintaining 29.### fps) while getting clean (non jagged) lines.

I have only recently started using avs 2.5 or higher and am still unfamiliar with a lot of the changes. I'm just looking for the cleanest results I can for editing, and if anyone who's delt with FLCL before can help out, I'd be grateful.

IVTC followed by AssumeFPS(29.970) isn't an option?

It is, but I get this:

Oh, those wacky action sequences with all those impossible-to-compress lines in the background!

Well... all I can really think of to get around that is to tweak the settings (it looks like Telecide's deinterlacer may be hitting a frame it should have left alone; AD wrote a nice blurb on tweaking the Telecide settings in EADFAG) or see if another field matcher doesn't work better (try TIVTC, Tritical's solution).

Have you tried the dienterlace method in virtual dub?

It might work

Seconded. I switched to TIVTC months ago and haven't looked back.

Try TDeint(mode=0, order=1) or TDeint(mode=1, order=1).BlendBob().

And looking at my scripts for my FLCL video, I realized I didn't do any temporal smoothing. Ooops.
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image

That's an alright option if you don't mind making your footage blended and shitty looking.
