Coin Flip effect
Hurried write-up cause I'm late:
I'm trying to flip two scenes as if they're two faces of a coin. Sounds simple enough, but I'm stuck with the part of the coin that's thick. Rounding the alpha and flipping one scene into the other makes them look like two sides of a coin that was run over by something heavy, and I want the coin to be tridimensional. I've tried a few things (mainly distortion filters) but they just made the scenes look weird. The problem is, I don't want the coin to flip only once, it's supposed to go around 720°.
Using Premiere Pro, AfterEffects and all that other freeware stuff.
Thank you in advance,
--Gepetto

The problem with those programs is they are not designed to work with 3 dimensional objects, and you want a 3 dimensional object. I would recommend you download Blender and create the coin with that. Yea, its a fairly steep learning curve for such a simple effects though :\
There are a few ways that you could kinda fudge it in After Effects though. One way is to make a lot of duplicates of the layer, and offset them all by 1 pixel in z-space. This will kinda give you some depth, but it looks really bad. You can also fake some depth with the shatter effect, although this looks prett y much just as bad.

You can use Crystal 3d vortex to that

it works with Adobe Premiere, Ulead MediaStudio Pro and some other editors

That's probably your best bet. There are a ton of programs out there now that let you create 3d objects and attach images to them. I like Lightwave, but something like Bryce, or a demo program should work as well. Plus, then you'll have a 3d modeling and animation program to play with. Bryce 3D v5 has been available for free over the past couple of weeks, but that offer expires today. If you still want to try for it:

Wow, that's a lot of answers
Thank you.
Zarxrax: I had already tried the shifting thing but it took forever to make a very thin coin so I gave up T_T and I have no idea what you mean by using shatter for a coin flip
Anyways, I downloaded Blender and I'm trying to figure it out.
moonie211: They don't ship to Brazil so it's no good... The suggestion looked promising though.
TaranT: Thought I had missed the deadline, but I'm downloading the software now, still free, 3 days after your post.
Thank you everyone for the replies, and sorry for just asking a question and disappearing but I was out on holiday.
Just one more question: After I create the spinning coin in one of these 3d-modeling softwares, how do I save it? Do they export the animated coin in AVI (and with what compression), or is it better to just save the coin as a 3d image and import said image in AfterEffects?
