KioAtWork: I'm so bored. I don't have class again for another half hour.

It's at the end of the title.Brave_Hearts.Exe wrote:..eh. why does everyone insist on putting "hell" in front of their title when it comes to video like these? it doesn't make any sense at all.
anyway i like it, can't say it was funnier than the other amv "movies" but it was up there. i loved the ninja thing.
Probably because it's a meme. Just like Iron Chef has become a meme for cooking things up quickly, so you get various 'chef' type contests. ____ "hell" has become the descriptor for videos of this type. Be honest, once you read: "Halo Music Video Hell" you knew right away what is was all about didn't you?

Well, it's a compilation, which is already a genre. "hell" is just a generic way of describing the video style. Kind of like describing musical bands that fall in between the cracks, like Bonnie Rait, Faith No More, Led Zepplin and so on. Eventually we'll have a slot for videos like this to fit in, but that hasn't happened yet, so... "hell".Dookstar wrote:so I guess that makes "Hell" A type of genre now.

Actually this bothers me somewhat. These styles of videos already fit under a catagory, it's called 'comedy'. If we must break it down further we can call them compilations like you mentioned which also has the bonus of it doesn't require someone to be a damned fanboy to understand what it means. Generally I don't care what the catagories are called after the third or fourth time I heard my Dedicated to My Wife video described as an AMV Hell knockoff I developed the urge to grab these people by the throat and yell "Look asshole, Zarx isn't the person I blatently ripped off so go watch Failed Experiments in Video Editing then STFU and FOAD". Now don't get me wrong, I'm doing a MEP that's basically AMV Hell without the quality control right now so obviously I have no problem ripping off Zarx but not everything is that and I resent being told it is.madbunny wrote:Well, it's a compilation, which is already a genre. So anyway, these types of videos existed long before AMV Hell came around. No reason to label them all as hell knockoffs. That'd be as stupid as calling the entire effectsy action genre a 'naruto technique beat' style, saying all dramas are 'Euphoria like', or that any piece of shit that relies on little more than flashing and popular series is 'Yet another Sierra Lorna video'. AMVs are far wider than a single video can encompass, no reason to label them all as if they were just rehashing the same thing over and over again even though some days it does seem like they are.
