What is This?

Post by Krisqo » Sat Sep 02, 2006 7:13 pm

I've encountered these little buggers several times and can't figure out what they are and how to get rid of them (if possible)

Look around the letters, especially "cardcaptor." I think it's dot crawl, but am not sure. Whatever the case, can you get rid of them? I've tried every filter I can figure out how to use in AVIsynth.

Just as I thought.

How do you use the filter?

You could also use TComb if you'd rather try to remove it with AviSynth (and not mess with trying to use VDub filters through AviSynth, since that requires a colorspace change). There's a readme file included in the zip, although if I can remember correctly, just inserting TComb() into your script before the deinterlace/IVTC should be fine, but it's been awhile since I've used it so don't quote me on that.

Those links I posted were for just samples. The filter in the second link is for vdub and if you want to use it put it in the plugins folder.

Try dedot in Avisynth.. here are some results I got from it.

before..

after

results from this script..

Code: Select all

dedot()

your_favourite_IVTC_filters() #don't forget to decimate too if you need to:)

degrainmedian()
fft3dfilter(sigma=3,bt=3,sharpen=1.0)
to get dedot check here..

check this thread for more info

there are a lot of different ways to take care of this. check out the doom9 forums for more filter suggestions.. try typing dotcrawl in the super search.

Thanks guys. I've been looking for a way to get rid of those bastards for almost a year now. AD mentioned dot crawl in the tech guide, but never explained how to get rid of them.

He's dead if I ever meet him

Thanks again.
