Thanks to NeoGohan for finally convincing me to checkout Blind Guardian, I got their newest release 'A Night At the Opera'. Now I've read all the reviews and impressions from fans on Prog sites, their official forum, and the like - which does help to shape my opinion of this album and the band itself.
The 'Symphonic Power' approach is more to my liking as in this release, but much like the first time I heard Symphony X, it has taken quite a bit of listens to finally click with me. And there's actually a trick that can help with any 'shocking' new music you've never listened to before:
Listen in Reverse Order!
I've found this helps not only with new CDs but also long time favorites, just to see if still sounds impressive as the first time.
Try this little trick - it might work for you.
