Being a fond supporter of a-m-v.org for over a year now, i've started toying with an idea i'd like some feedback on.
I run a teeshirt shop with my mother, so this idea is completly plauseable.
WHAT IF... the admins here started selling teeshirts and such with the AMV logo for the year on the front?
Like for thoes people who donate 20$ or more, they get a free teeshirt or hat or... Hell, even pillow case...
People might donate more to the site and--
another catch.
the logo of the current year is ONLY AVAILABLE for that paticular year! so it'd be a collectable, right?
it'd help pay for the webspace and all and also give the donaters something to be proud of.
i'd realy like to know what you all think of this idea.
(PS: this is my first forum post so... yay for me XP)
PPS: yes i read rule 9 of the forum spacific rules.
I am not telling people to buy from my place of work, jsut offering a suggestion to generate more funds for a-m-v.org
Donation Rewards?

We used to have a store back when I joined. It never really got enough money to keep it in business. A few other people here actually tried to get it back together in a similar manner to what you're suggesting, but nothing ever really came of it I guess...
I think selling stuff also complicates tax matters since the site is a non profit or something along those lines There are topics from a while back around that can explain it a lot better than I can remember at the moment. Just search for them.

Actuly, you dont have to buy anyhting then what you need.
If you sell one shirt, we make on shirt.
Think about it, if you get their 20$.
20(donation)-10(price of shirt?)=10(remainder) right?
and minus 2 dollers for shipping, the site still gets 8 or so dollers for everything. Meh, it was only a sugestion.

hm.. I didn't know that. I guess it isn't as good as it sounds...
Oh well, it was still an idea none the less.

Well, it's an interesting idea. Theoretically, it could help boost donations (someone was planning to donate $30, but sees they get a cool tshirt if they bump the donation to $50, so they decide to go to $50). On the other hand, it could seriously hurt the donations, because with so many people getting gifts, that will definately take a large chunk out of the donation money.
Also, it would complicate the processing of donations, which would probably be the biggest hurdle.
