A Progressive 29.97fps Anime DVD

Excuse me for posting this but I had never even HEARD of this existing before.

I got my hands on the R2's of the Angel's Feather OAV. The footage struck me as being remarkably clean and I dig in deeper to check it out. The DVD is natively progressive and it's progressive at 29.97fps. o_O Like, it was actually animated at this frame rate. o_O;;;

It's actually true. There's no ghosting from de-interlacing. Not a single field screwed up or miscombobulated. It's truely progressive at television frame rates.

Doesn't this like, violate some law of nature? Do I need to go 'Oh Shi...!' and the universe will explode?

The R1 copy of "Voices of a Distant Star" is the same way.

thats like the PAL howls moving castle dvd. - i think it was 4-5 gig when i ripped it

Actually it makes sense in a way. If the show is CG, then you just render out the frames that you need, at the speed that you need. No hand cell cheats, plus you could theoretically do more than one master at different frame rates (eg: movie, and DVD) OF course I could be wrong too. Still, it's about damm time, that's half the reason I want HD footage.
