fast seek through lossy footage

Post by bum » Sun Jul 09, 2006 7:43 am

There anything I can do that will allow me to seek quickly and easily (no chopyness or lag) with lossy footage?

Find lossy footage that has lots of keyframes. :|

Or you could do the bait & switch thing by encoding your source to say low-quality MJPEG for editing and then switch with the originals before final render.

Hm, on second thought this could lead to one frame errors when the NLE seeks randomly in the originals. Not a good idea after all. Just convert to Lagarith or something if you can. :/
