Help finding some quality Outlaw Star Dvds

Post by Gox777 » Mon Jul 03, 2006 10:02 pm

Right now I'm borrowing my friend's Outlaw Star Volume 2 DVD by Bandai to find clips for an AMV idea I had. As some people were mentioning before, the dvd footage isn't all that great....interlaced with a good bit of rainbow-ness and some other crap. At one point it looked like it had the type of lines that a VHS has while tracking.
This is the one I have right now.

Could anyone point me to an import boxset or dvd collection? I wanted to get the rest of the series anyways.

I DID find this btw...does it look good? It says it's released by FX.

(Definately a good price anyways. I want find something for under $40)

If it's from FX, it's a bootleg.

Yep .. bootleg.. I've got the collection from Fx myself (wasnt aware). As you said the quality isnt all that good.. but it can be cleaned a bit through Avisynth.. even with it being bootleg. Your quality would probably be better by sticking with Bandai's copies. I made a video with the fx collection (again .. wasnt aware of bootleg) Would you be my Baby?(RTQ) .. I think I did a so so job of cleaning it at least. The Original video is as you said .. littered with interlace,blending(a great pain),rainbow,macroblocking,mosquito noise, yada yada so on and so forth. With whatever you decide to do. I could tell you the script I use.. well .. if I can remember it. It took a lot.. of trial and error

Heh good thing I asked about that then.
The only other thing I found was something on cdjapan called "Seiho Bukyo Outlaw Star Remaster Box" which cost $334 LOL

Guess I'll stick with bandai. Any help with the avs script I would really appreciate. :wink:
The one I was going to use looks like this.
-----------------
MPEG2Source("D:\Videos\Projects\empire_amv\dvdsource\ep10.d2v")
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\TDeint.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\BlendBob.dll")
TDeint(mode=1,order=1)
BlendBob(derainbow=1)
------------------
I did a test with it after rendering...it could've just been me over analyzing it, but it looked like the framerate dropped a little bit.

Oh yea I'll check that vid of yours out too^

Heh.. well the video isnt really good but.. here is what script that is coming to mind. btw Im guessing you already tried Decomb and IVTC... lol didnt do any good for me.

--------------------------
MPEG2Source("C:\Whatever.d2v"ipp=true,cpu=4)
LoadTDeint()
TDeint(mode=1,order=1)
BlendBob()
--------------------------
That seems pretty off.. btw your field order may be different.. if your on yahoo im online for a bit.. reddragon_syndicate_leader@yahoo.com we can talk about it on there.. I'll rip a dvd again load a d2v and run a script seeing as how im having trouble remembering it.

It's unavailable on Best Buy's site, too.

But is it really remastered, or just a re-release? I've got the original separate two-disc version... hadn't really noticed anything, but then again, never loaded it on my computer either. And I don't feel like buying another set unless it's significantly better quality, you know?

Ah yes I noticed that release too.
Can anyone confirm if the quality is better?
