Graffiti is the art form, vandalism is the crime, but I know a lot of people who think graffiti means vandalism.

And so isn't shit smeared on a wall or paint splatters. That's what happens when everyone's opinion is thought of as valid for no more reason that (s)he had it. :?
Yet there are people who can tell the difference between different Pollack canvases, because a giant canvas splattered with paint can create an orderly chaos (cliché as it might sound), or just sheer aggression. And it is the subjectivity and interpretation of art that makes abstract art so compelling to some people.

But that aside, graffiti art is certainly not random, and some of it is pretty damn impressive. Those people who bother to dig into the mentality behind graffiti art might find that the core of it is aesthetics, and the placement of it is important because it's most often in pretty slummy areas where no government renovation is anticipated. That's not always the case, but that's what I allow to be art.

Anyway, isn't this supposed to be about music?

rap sucks because the people that like it are so defensive.

JK it's OK, but I think the people defending it shouldn't care soo much about others views because it's good to them and that is all that matter right? ;\ i GuESS nOt yo yo bl ing bling.. it's all about the lyrics not the vocals and everything else that makes music... oh yeah and a nice repetitive beat that is the single element next to lyrics that makes rap work... oh yeah and attitude in your voice.. or something like that :\

Most of the people who have been defending rap don't like rap. I think there are only about two other people bisdes myself, who posted in this thread, that are hip-hop heads.

This thread has become more about Respect & Intelligence VS Ignorance & Stupidity

One more thing: The phrase Bling Bling is dead. It was gang raped, and later killed itself. What it stood for is very much alive.

[paizuri: I like this post. It sums up this thread nicely and is a good place for me to lock it.]
