How do you share your AMVs?

Post by Southcross » Sat Apr 29, 2006 4:00 pm

Anyone using Bittorrent to share their AMVs? The tracker I "tried" to use isn't realiable and I'm looking for opinions/input

It's been contemplated. It's been rejected, because the BitTorrent model just doesn't suit AMVs. Some analysis can be found here.

ah... thank you Kalium :)
"Ah," I retort "yes, but only a handful of users (at most!) are likely to be downloading a random video a random moment."

"As a result, the simultaneous demand neccessary for BitTorrent to be useful doesn't exist. This is, in fact, precisely the situation our old and dear friend HyperText Transport Protocol was created for!"
makes perfect sense, answers that right there ;)

No, I don't use Bittorent. I might send them to friends in Instant Messangers or just point them to the Org. But that's it basically. Or save them to VCDs and give them to my friend's to watch at home, but that's it.

The only thing I might use a tracker for (like it's been done in the past) is for the huge multi-editor projects, but my first impulse would be to try and get it hosted on the Local server first. The BitTorrent version would probably be XviD, whereas the hosted Local version would probably be H.264/AVC.

hey... now that isn't too bad of an idea... most newer DVD players should support CDR VCDs... whereas my horribly expensive early generation Panasonic DVD player wont :(

Yeah I have a collection of music/songs on VHS from TV/movies/anything that I've been doing for years and years and years and once I finally figured out how to get AMVs to VHS, I went crazy with it and since they're on VHS I give the CDs to my friends.

I kinda wish that Sony still had their DV/Analog converter box... the damn thing was amazing... a little box that ran on an AC-DC converter... had analog (S-vid & CoAxe) and digital Inputs, AND a set of the same for outputs  I could hook my DV camcorder via firewire to it, then it would output analog via CoAxe to my VCR... and visa-versa
