There is a way around that, actually all you are required to do is give stars. Stars are useless IMHO.

I've found that putting your AMV into a contest helps a lot, even if it doesn't win. It's a good way to show people, even non-AMV people, your vids and getting the word about you too. I've found some of my favorite creators by just seeing something in a AMV contest at some con and looking up whatever else they have. Plus, you're just in time to send into some of those contests!

It also is just a matter of how many people download the video. The more people that download it the more comments you're naturally going to get. If you worked it out graphically there probably would be a similar correlation though I'm pretty sure videos with highrer scores get comments more often than those with lower.
