Here’s a few things I’v learned in my years of AMV making (but haven’t always fallowed, lol). These are tips from me, but if u have some u want to add, feel free to or if u don’t agree with one of them, feel free to argue ur point.

-WMV files: If u don’t use WMM but still use wmv, please stop. It will lower your hit rates because others will think it was made with wmm. Also, the compression is much better in avi, please use .avi or another file type.

-Subtitles
: A big no-no, even if you are using wmm there is no excuse for subtitles. Please crop them out, or if u have wmm or something with out crop, either rip ur own footage, get raws or send ur vid to someone with a more advanced program to crop the vid for u.

-Lip synch: If there arn't lyrics going on, lips shouldn't be moving. Take time with lip synch if ur gonna use it, nobody likes bad lip synch, make sure to count the syllables in the lyrics and make the mouth open and close the same amount of times, the rest of the timing is all speed up and slow down.

These are my tips. U can lean more advanced stuff and more info go to the Guides section of the site. That’s it for now.
Post away with more tips or comments. Excuse any spelling or grammar errors, i suck at that stuff.

First off, even if YOU think a video sucks someone else could love it, there are no "universally bad videos"

1. WMV, get over yourself. I use WMM, and I know a lot of great AMV editors who do. You can still make a great video in WMM if you know what you're doing, and the quality still looks pretty good to me. They don't have to be DVD QUALITY every single time, I'm not that picky. And if you won't download a video that's still good even though it was made in WMM, then your loss.

2. Stop using "ur". I can't take you seriously. About the subtitles, sometimes people can't help it. People with slow connections have to settle for what they have, or if they have no DVD Drives. And you forget that sometimes subtitles CAN help a video.

3. Lip synch. Give me a break. "When there are no words, lips shouldn't be moving" so does that mean when there are words lips should ONLY be moving? And you act like EVERY Amv SHOULD lip synch. Some videos don't need lip synch. If you watch a few good instrumental videos sometimes a little quick mouth movment showing the anger of a character or some sort of mood can help it out. Plus, in anime, they talk...if you just cut out all the talking you don't have too many clips left.

Thanks for "ur" tips, but I can't take "some1 serisly" when they can't take their time to spell out "you"

99% of the time subtitles distract from a video for me

i dont think that the "people cant help it argument stands especially when theres this:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... efault.htm

if any thing WMM users can crop off subtitles BEFORE editing. especially if they dont know avi compression, or how to do it AFTER editing.
