Double bed open for Anime Boston '06

Post by DriftRoot » Wed Mar 22, 2006 9:52 am

My roomate for Anime Boston (May 26-28) is probably not going to make it, so I now have a double bed in a reseved, non-smoking room available at the Sheraton, the "official" convention roost, for Friday and Saturday night. Since the convention's definately getting closer and people are starting to get concerned about where they're sleeping (I know the Sheraton is booked solid), this seems like a good time to make this offer.

My stuff: I am a 28-year-old female who dearly loves being able to sleep soundly at night and gets very cranky when deprived of her z's. I do not plan on throwing any parties in my room, be they gaming, cosplay, drinking or whatever - the room will be a place to store stuff, collapse after a long, long day, with perhaps a nap in between, and a changing room for costumes (if any).
If my interests are a concern, I putter with AMVs, keep up with the anime scene here and overseas, delight in video games, appreciate manga and will cosplay as long as I'm satisfied with the quality of my costume. In other words, I'm not stodgy or narrow-minded so unless you're going to try to convert me to your religion, we should get along fine. :D

Criteria for eligibility:

Females only, please, age does not matter. Older women or younger girls are both welcome, although I will not be taking any responsibility for the antics of underage individuals. Bad behavior will get you an immediate (partial) refund of your money - whatever your age. I'm really not kidding about this.

Alcohol is fine if and only if you are over 21 and are not crawling around in a drunken stupor, retching in the bathroom or offering it to minors in my presence. Smoking is fine as long as it's not in the room (duh).

Game systems are welcome, I may bring mine, but if the other person is trying to sleep, the TV goes off.

Payment up front, in cash, is required when I hand you the room key. The room is already reserved and held with a deposit, so I expect anyone else staying there to take an equal stake in paying for it.

I mentioned no extra-curricular activities in the room, right? No friends, strangers or significant others are to stop in for any length of time. This is primarily a security measure. There are plenty of other places to go socialize like crazy at the convention, if that's what you want. If you wind up not sleeping in the room because you were in someone else's, you will NOT be getting a post-convention discount.

Cleanliness is next to cleanliness. At least one shower and a little care where belongings are thrown (i.e. not all over my bed) is greatly appreciated.

Finally, I will ask for a real name, age and phone number of anyone interested in the bed, plus conduct some kind of informal chat before making any decision on who gets it. If you're under 18, I will need permission from parental figures to be providing you with this room - any concerned parent would probably be extremely wary of this situation, so I don't think this is asking too much.

NOTE: Check in at the Sheraton is at 2 or 3 in the afternoon and check out is at noonish. Before check in on Friday, you will be able to store your stuff at the hotel only if we meet in person to arrange this earlier in the day. Otherwise, you will have to tote all your gear about the convention until after I have the room key and can provide you with one. I expect to arrive in Boston at about 9 a.m. If you're only interested in staying over Saturday night, then you will be able to dump your stuff in the room as soon as you arrive at the convention.

PM me if you are interested in the room. There is no cut-off date for letting me know, but let's say that inquiries after May 25 will be risky. There are a few other people who will not be attending the convention that have expressed an interest in the room, from a purely Boston tourist point of view, and I need to let them know by that date if it's still available.

Well, the room's been filled. To prevent necroposting, could a mod please lock this thread? Thank you!
