Making fullscreen out of widescreen?

Post by Dejana » Wed Mar 29, 2006 11:44 pm

I'm working on a multi-anime AMV, and one of the shows I'd like to use is in widescreen format. Are there any utilities out there (hopefully free) that I could use to trim off the sides of the widescreen clips to make them into fullscreen footage?

AVISynth has the built-in Crop() function if you're using an AVISynth-based method to get your footage.

That or VirtualDub. Anything really.

Assuming the source is an anamoprhic DVD it's pretty easy to do without any real loss of quality. When I used both Evangelion and End Of Evangelion, I took the anamorphic source of EOE, scalled it out to 854x480 then cropped off 107 pixels on the left and the right to get a 4:3, 640x480 version of EOE that would match the TV series.

VirtualDub works great! I'll have to recapture some better-quality footage, though... >.o

Thanks so much for the suggestions, guys. :D
