Resolution question ^^

Well, since I said I would and I haven't installed Paint Shop Pro X on this computer yet, enjoy the wonder that is MS Paint!

720 x 480 (raw) circle image from DVD

640 x 480 resized circle image (4:3 aspect ratio)

Another set of images (actually, 1 frame later)

720 x 480 (raw) circle image from DVD

640 x 480 resized circle image (4:3 aspect ratio)

Unless your computer monitor is really out of whack, the images should give you a proper idea why resizing to 640 x 480 is recommended for 4:3 aspect ratio material. If you really want to make sure, break out your ruler or measuring tape. Hope this helps.

so basically if i don't crop anything off and just resize it as it is, it's gonna look better and not squished at all?

Actually, mplayer and VLC display it at 720x544, despite putting in 640x480. It just treats it as 4:3.
